Testogel - Key Information
What are Testogel sachets?
Testosterone Gel
- Testogel contains the active ingredient testosterone, the hormone that is most common in men
- Testogel is a gel that is applied to the skin. It is then absorbed into the body
- Testogel is prescribed for men who do not produce enough testosterone, or who have low testosterone levels
- A healthy level of testosterone facilitates sperm production, maintains a normal sex drive, helps men achieve an erection and supports muscle and bone health
- As testosterone levels fall as men get older, testosterone replacement is sometimes prescribed for older men as a form of hormone replacement therapy to improve the low level of the hormone
- Testogel may also be prescribed for men who produce low testosterone for other reasons
- Testosterone gel should not be taken by mouth. It should also not be injected. It should only be applied to the skin.
- It is important to read the patient leaflet for a complete list of side effects and cautions.
What are the common symptoms of low testosterone in men?
WebMD states that there are common symptoms of low testosterone in men. These low testosterone symptoms include:
- Smaller, softer testicles
- Thinner muscles over time
- Body hair loss over time
- Larger breasts
- Thinner bones over time
- Lower libido/sex drive
- Poorer concentration
- Less energy
- Changes in mood
- Lower sperm count
How Does Testogel Work?
Testogel contains the active ingredient testosterone. The gel is applied to the skin on the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen (Shoskes et al, 2016). The testosterone then reaches the bloodstream, raising the overall low levels of testosterone in the body.
The testosterone in Testogel mimics the natural testosterone that is produced in the body (Khodamoradi et al, 2021). Testogel can potentially help with sperm production, supporting a healthy sex drive, erections and supporting bone growth, muscle growth and blood cell growth.

Usage Advice
How is Testogel Taken?
Testogel should only be applied by the person using it. No one else should assist with application, as they could absorb the hormone through their skin.
Testogel should be applied once a day, ideally at the same time each day. It should be spread as a thin layer onto the skin of the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen.
The gel does not need to be rubbed into the skin; just leave it to absorb naturally. Allow around five minutes for it to soak in before dressing.
If you shower in the morning, apply the gel after your skin has cooled and dried. If you prefer to shower later in the day, wait at least six hours after applying the gel before washing.
After application, wash your hands thoroughly. If you come into close contact with others, such as a partner, ensure your hands are clean before touching them. You should also either wear clothing over the application site or take a shower before skin-to-skin contact, including sex, to prevent the transfer of testosterone.
Testogel should not be applied to the genital area, as it may cause irritation.

What is the dosage of Testogel sachets?

Testogel FAQs
Does Testogel work?
Research suggests that testosterone gel effectively increases testosterone levels (Shoskes et al, 2016) and libido (Rizk et al, 2017). However, it is important to consult a healthcare provider to confirm whether testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is right for you.
Does Testogel build muscle?
Research on the effects of testosterone gel on muscle mass is mixed. Some studies suggest moderate increases in upper body strength (Wang et al (2000) while others indicate that TRT improves physical function but not muscle strength (Nam et al, 2018). Testogel is prescribed to correct low testosterone levels rather than to build muscle.
Does Testogel cause weight gain?
Some studies suggest TRT may lead to weight gain in older men (Saad et al, 2011)while others indicate it may aid weight loss in overweight and obese men (Traish, A., 2014). Weight changes are a potential side effect, but Testogel is primarily used to treat low testosterone.
Can I put testosterone gel on my legs?
Testosterone gel should only be applied to clean, dry skin on the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen, as recommended by the Mayo Clinic. Always follow the patient information leaflet and consult your doctor if unsure.
Can I use testosterone gel at night?
It is recommended to apply testosterone gel in the morning and at the same time every day, ensuring that you adhere to the directions of the patient information leaflet.
Can testosterone gel make you tired?
Although uncommon, topical testosterone may cause tiredness, dizziness, or light-headedness, according to Healthline (2023).
Can testosterone gel transfer after it dries?
The risk of transferring testosterone to another person is minimal if the gel is applied correctly and allowed to dry fully (trted.org). Drying times vary, so it is essential to follow the instructions in the patient leaflet.
Does testosterone gel make you hornier?
Studies indicate that testosterone therapy can improve libido (Lakshman & Basaria, 2009; Cunningham et al, 2016; Straftis & Gray, 2019). However, a medical consultation is essential to determine if TRT is suitable for you.
Can you put testosterone gel on your balls?
No, testosterone gel should not be applied to the penis or scrotum, as it may cause irritation (Mayo Clinic).
Can you put testosterone gel on your face?
No, testosterone gel should only be applied to clean, dry skin on the shoulders or upper arms (Mayo Clinic). Consult your doctor if you are unsure where to apply it.
Does testosterone gel stop natural production?
Testosterone therapy can suppress the body’s natural testosterone production. A careful assessment by a doctor is necessary before starting treatment (Harvard Medical School, 2020).
Does testosterone gel expire?
Yes, testosterone gel does expire and should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package.
Can you use expired testosterone gel?
